Sharmila to wed Long-Time Boyfriend

Human Rights Activist Irom Sharmila submitted an application at the Kodaikanal Sub-Registrar Office in Tamil Nadu to enter wedlock with her long-time Boyfriend Desmond Coutinho. She moved the application as per Hindu Marriage Act.
Sub-Registrar will now issue a notice period of 30 days under the Special Marriage Act, inviting people to raise objections if any. Details of the wedding date have been sought from Sharmila by Tehsildar and Local Police.
Irom Sharmila's Political Debut was disaster. The party, People's Resurgence and Justice Alliance, failed miserably in Manipur Assembly Polls. The Activist managed to get only 90-odd votes in the constituency where she contested.
On November 4th in 2000, Sharmila launched her indefinite fast seeking withdrawal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958. She ended her 16-Year-Old hunger strike (World Record) on August 9th, 2016. Sharmila's dream of becoming CM of Manipur got shattered with the poor performance of her party in the Assembly Polls.
