Irony: Protests Against Ambedkar Name using Constitutional Rights
X
India is the largest democracy and the democracy is granted by the Indian constitution drafted by a committee headed by Ambedkar. The rights and powers we are enjoying are granted by the same Constitution, which is the lengthiest in the world. To honor the father of the Indian Constitution, the Andhra Pradesh government proposed the idea to name the Konaseema district after him.

The irony is that the protests opposing the name of Ambedkar were held using the rights guaranteed by the Constitution written by Ambedkar. He is not a person who belongs to his community alone. He fought for people and their rights and he belongs to everyone.

It is a shock that people have issues with Konaseema getting his name. The development should be supported by one and all irrespective of the political stands. It has to be mentioned here that all the parties in Andhra Pradesh supported the demand.

The way the protests started all of a sudden and turned intense raises a doubt about the political angle and whether there might be external forces behind the protest. Or else the property damage would have not happened and the cops would have not sustained serious injuries.

Konaseema is not like Kashmir to face restrictions and internet shutdowns and to see cops around the area. For the first time, Andhra Pradesh saw the internet shutdown reaching the state. This is not what we want to see in Konaseema.
