Is Andhra Pradesh hurtling towards advanced polls? Political watchers, who are keenly following AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s moves are of the opinion that YS Jagan is planning to advance the polls in the state. They say that he is organising a key meeting of the party workers on April 27 n Tadepalli, where he would outline his strategy to the key party leaders.

Sources say that his latest cabinet rejig, where cast and social equations were given a lot of importance, is aimed at political mileage. Also, he has asked the outgoing ministers to focus on party work. These two steps are intended to garner the support of all the social categories in the state. He has also said in no uncertain terms that he would continue with the flagship welfare programme come what may.

YS Jagan’s latest attack on both the TDP and the Jana Sena on the issue of implementing the welfare programmes also makes it quite clear that he is planning to make the implementation of the welfare schemes an electoral issue and he wants to go in for elections before it becomes difficult to implement the welfare schemes anymore.

Jagan’s public outreach programme and his diktat to the party MLAs to reach out to the people are also clear indications that he wants to go for early polls, according to political watchers. They also feel that Jagan would not give them two years time to build agitations and mobilise the people. He wants to go in for early polls, argue political watchers.
