Is Chandrababu Sinking the Congress ship?
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Dec 2018 12:31 PM ISTThe electoral campaign has reached its crescendo in poll-bound Telangana. CM KCR is addressing no less than five to six meetings everyday and is explaining the developmental initiatives of his government. KCR is without doubt one of the most eloquent and effective communicator in Telangana today. He doesn't mince words. He doesn't have to search for words and he can be ruthlessly clear in sending across his message. His speeches on schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Pensions, 24-hour power supply, Kalyan Lakshmi, Mission Bhageeratha and Mission Kakatiya are winning laurels.
A quick look at KCR's schemes reminds one of YS Rajasekhara Reddy. YSR too had made similar promises and delivered on them. His ideas like fees reimbursement, Arogya Sri, 108 services and Rs 2 a kg rice schemes are innovative and unique. Only undivided AP could implement such schemes.
KCR, who has praised these schemes on the floor of the assembly, had actually aped most of these schemes when he came to power. Akin to YSR's famed Jala Yagnam, KCR too had managed to secure permissions for projects like Kaleswaram, Sitaram Sagar etc. Schemes lik the Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhageeratha have won massive support and have succeeded in greening barren lands in lakhs of acres. His Rythu Bandhu is a true friend of farmers.
On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu nurses hatred towards Telangana and wants to wreak vengeance for having to leave Hyderabad in the wake of Cash for Vote scam. Jagan's incessant struggle for special status has forced him to cut off all links to the BJP. Now Chandrababu is busy trying to cobble up political alliances and is trying to find a foothold in the Telangana with the help of an alliance from the Congress. It is being rumoured that Chandrababu has funded the Congress in Telangana to a tune of Rs 500 crore. It is clear that his antipathy to Telangana has driven him to spend so much money.
With Rahul Gandhi by his side, he got so emboldened that he began mouthing self-boasting dialogues. He began claiming that the outer ring road and international airport, whose works began during the YSR regime in 2005, were his own creations. He also claimed ownership of Financial City, which was a gift of YSR to the people of Hyderabad. The Congress leaders, who knew the truth, could not muster courage to counter him.
The Congress, which would have won not less than 40 seats even if it fought alone, is now staring at a certain drubbing thanks to the association with Chandrababu Naidu, who is adding to the Congress woes through his wrongful boasts and fake claims.
