Is His Political Career Doomed?

One man who is completely devastated by the election results in Maharashtra is Raj Thackeray. Once, he was he lord of all he surveyed and was the most powerful person in Shiv Sena after Balasaheb Thackeray. Later, he fell out with the senior Thackeray over promoting Uddhav Thackeray and formed the Maharashtra Navanirmal Sena.
In the just concluded Maharashtra assembly elections, Raj Thackeray's MNS contested 110 seats, mainly in the Mumbai, Konkan area. But, it could win just one seat. Despite being an electrifying speaker, Raj Thackeray completely failed to ignite passions and win seats. His party has lost deposit in most places it contested. Now, with just one MLA, his party literally has no role to play in the state politics. In 2009, his party had won 13 seats. In 2014, it had just one assembly seat. The party has but won just one seat again this time.
What will be Raj Thackeray's future? What will happen to his party? Will his cadre now flock to the resurgent Shiv Sena? Will there be an attempt to merge his party into the Shiv Sena? It remains to be seen what Raj Thackeray would do?
