Is It Too Early To Talk About 4th Wave in India?

India saw a big disaster with the Covid outbreak. Over the past two years, we have been seeing infections and casualties triggered by the Covid pandemic. We have heard reports of Covid patients' bodies burnt in large numbers. However, there are contradictions in casualty count in the country. WHO and a few international media outlets have claimed that India under-reported the casualties.

All these things came up for the discussion as there is a hike in the fresh daily cases. There has been a zig-zag in the single-day cases. After seeing over 1,000 cases for a few days, the cases had crossed the 2,000 mark at once and saw a dip the very next day.

These developments had started a new doubt that India might go through another wave of Covid. Adding fuel to this, a few experts have also predicted that there are high chances of another wave hitting the country. However, the experts feel that the possible fourth wave might not be that deadly and fearsome.

The Union government has also directed the states and union territories to be more cautious and take preventive measures to contain the virus's spread. The Centre even urged the governments to go for local restrictions if needed so that the virus is not spread further.

Being cautious and alert is good. But there are a few doubts about the spread of the virus. Can we say that the fourth wave might come by looking at just thousands of cases? In the previous waves, we have seen lakhs of cases and it is nothing compared to the current trend.

On the other hand, there is no consistency in the single-day cases, unlike the old waves. The cases went up for one day and went down the very next day. So the situation might not be that scary and dangerous.

However, we cannot take the virus for granted. The virus spread starts with a few cases and goes up if the Covid guard is let down. It is too early to decide on a fourth wave. So we have to be cautious and not panic as staying mentally strong is the key to beating the virus. Many Covid survivors said the same they were mentally strong during their treatment.
