Is Kothapalli Geetha A TDP Covert?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Dec 2018 4:52 AM GMTIs Kothapalli Geetha a TDP covert? Her actions are creating these suspicions among the minds of the people. Kothapalli Geetha, who is elected as an MP from Araku Lok Sabha constituency, has later defected to the Telugu Desam Party. Since then, though a YSRCP member, she effectively functioned as a TDP member. Of late, Geetha has been getting closer to the BJP. At the national level, she has been moving around with the BJP leaders. She is said to be cultivating a slew of senior BJP leaders, including its national general secretary Ram Madhav. She has also attended the India Idea Conclave that Ram Madhav organises every year and made all right noises. The BJP is said to be making efforts to woo her.
But, without joining the BJP, Geetha has formed a new party by the name Jana Jagruthi Party. This party, she says, will contest all seats. But, practically, her focus would be to divide votes in the Agency areas of the state of Andhra Pradesh. By doing this, she hopes to cut into the YSRCP votes. The YSRCP had won most of the MLA seats from the tribal areas in 2014. So, Geetha will cut into those votes. She will also demand some seats from the BJP from the non-tribal areas. By doing this, she will further weaken the BJP.
Some sources, who know the antecedents of Geetha, say that despite coming from a tribal background, she is married to a person who belongs to the same caste as that of the Chief Minister and thus could actually be serving the TDP cause through her new party. She will split the votes and fool the BJP. Is the BJP listening?
