Is Motkupalli Joining BJP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Nov 2019 4:35 AM GMTIs TDP firebrand Motkupalli Narsimhulu all set to join the BJP? Yes, say sources in the BJP. If sources are to be believed, BJP state chief Dr K Laxman met Motkupalli and invited him into the BJP. Even Union Minister Kishan Reddy went over to Motkupalli's house and invited him to join the BJP.
Motkupalli, a Dalit leader from Alair has been a minister in the Chandrababu Naidu government and was considered a prominent member of the TDP's shouting brigade. Even while the TDP was on the wane in Telangana, he played a big role in troubling and tormenting the TRS. He was praised for his courage in taking on the TRS and the KCR. But, later he fell out with Chandrababu Naidu and began criticising him. Chandrababu expelled him from the party. Calling Chandrababu a backstabber, Motkupalli even took out a padayatra to Tirupati to pray that Chandrababu should lose the 2019 elections. In the last assembly elections, he contested as a candidate of the Left backed Bahujana Liberation Front and lost the elections.
However, some party watchers say that Motkupalli is past his prime and that he is not welcome in any other party. They remind that Motkupalli tried to join the TRS but the ruling party did not send any positive signal. What is the use of taking in such spent forces, asked a BJP leader, who argued against his joining the party. But, both Laxman and Kishan Reddy seem to feel that Motkupalli's joining would strengthen the BJP.
