Is Revanth Reddy driving away seniors from Congress Party?
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Nov 2022 6:59 AM GMTIs TPCC chief Revanth Reddy driving away the seniors from the Congress Party in Telangana? Has he failed in taking along the seniors who had given their best years to the party? What will happen to the party if the same trend continues and more and more seniors and experienced hands leave the party? These are the questions that are being asked in the Congress Party circles.
First it was national spokesperson Dasoju Shravan. Then senior leader Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy left the party. This was followed by business baron and former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. As if this was not enough, dyed-in-the-wool Congressman Marri Sasidhar Reddy too has left the party. The Marri family has been with the Congress for at least the past 80 years and the engagement spanned three generations. The latest to join the bandwagon is Nirmal district Congress president Ramarao Patil.
The moment Revanth Reddy was anointed the PCC chief, former MLAs Akula Rajender and Kichennagari Lakshma Reddy resigned from the Congress Party. Several other party seniors are unhappy. This clearly shows that Revanth Reddy has not succeeded in winning their confidence. Even young leaders such as Palle Ravi and Bomma Sriram too have left the party.
There is a general feeling that Revanth Reddy is either ignoring or marginalising BC leaders from the party. It is being rumoured that Revanth Reddy made no effort whatsoever to convince these leaders to stay back in the party. In fact, he did not even bother to talk to Sasidhar Reddy, who has since resigned from the party. The general feeling among the senior leaders and the cadre is that Revanth Reddy is unable to stem the rot in the party.
