Is Shiv Sena Losing Battle With BJP?
X
Is Shiv Sena's fight with the BJP actually not over who will become the Chief Minister or over how to share the chief ministerial position for half the time? If highly placed sources are to be believed, the real fight is over the key ministries like the home, finance and revenue. The Shiv Sena wants all these three key ministries for itself, but the BJP is in no mood to do that. It has clearly stated that all these three ministries will remain with the BJP.

Source say that more than the BJP, it is the Shiv Sena which has few options. It knows that both the Congress and the NCR are tougher customers to deal with. They also know that these two parties will do everything they can to weaken the Shiv Sena and pull the run at the most opportune time. In fact, it is the BJP which is more straightforward in its dealings. The BJP will not do anything to destabilise the coalition unlike the NCP- Shiv Sena combine. So, the Shiv Sena fully knows well that the BJP will not give up the CM post under any circumstances. Similarly, getting the Deputy CM post too is no big deal as the BJP has already offered it to the Shiv Sena. Hence, the real bargain is for the key ministries, which the BJP is not ready to give up.

Moreover, the Shiv Sena knows that independents like Ravi Rana, Sanjay Shinde, Geetha Jain, Mahesh Baldi, Kishore Jorgewal, Vinod Agarwal, Rajesh Raut, Prakash Anna Awade have already extended their support to the BJP. Also, small parties like Bahujan Vikash Aghadi, Peasants and Workers Party and Jana Swarajya Party have also extended their support. This has actually helped the narrow the distance to absolute majority. It is just 26 away from the absolute majority mark. This will make a split possible in the Shiv Sena, where a large number of MLAs are unhappy over the ascendance of Aditya Thackeray.
