Is Teenmar Mallanna an asset or a liability?

Now that highly controversial Teenmar Mallanna has joined the BjP, there is a debate as to how useful he would be for the party in Telangana. Despite his acerbic attacks on KCR and his sharp comments on his style of governance, Teenmar Mallanna is highly problematic, feel several BJP leaders from Telangana. They question the very decision to admit him into the party.
They cite that Mallanna alias Chintapandu Naveen Kumar has been arrested on charges of extortion. He is accused of blackmailing an astrologer for money. The Chilakalguda police had even booked a case against him. He is also facing cases for abusing CM KCR. As of now, he has 38 cases against him, of which six cases have been struck off. In the remaining 32 cases, he has secured bail.
The TRS is attacking Mallanna by saying he is not even a journalist. Minister Koppula Eswar has even said that he is a mere TV anchor and not a journalist. He has not worked in any media house as a full-fledged journalist. Clearly, the TRS is trying to highlight the fact that he is not even a journalist and his claims are fake.
Some sections of the BJP feel that the party will now have to defend Teenmar Mallanna’s acts of omission and commission. They feel Teenmar Mallanna is more a liability than an asset to the party. They aver that the party may not gain much due to his entry and could actually stand to lose some goodwill.
