Is Telangana hiding Covid positive cases?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 May 2021 3:18 AM GMTIs the Telangana government trying to hide the number of Covid positive cases in the state? Has it issued orders to the medical officials to limit the number of the state and not to reveal the real number of positive cases. In a message titled 'final warning', the medical and health department has asked the staff at the PHCs not to reveal the results of the Covid 19 tests to the people.
The message issued by the District Medical and Health Officer has aked the PHC staffers not to reveal the information about the Rapid Antigen Tests. The DHMO warned of serious action if the details are leaked. The Telangana government has always been accused of suppressing facts and fudging figures of Covid positive cases. This accusation was also made during the first wave last year. It may be recalled that even the Telangana High Court had pulled up the state government on this issue. Interestingly, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar had on Wednesday claimed that the Covid 19 situation was under control.
The state government has already restricted the number of RAT tests to 50 per day in the PHCs, 100 per day in community hospitals and 200 per day in District Government Hospitals. The NGOs, civil society organisations and the Opposition parties are accusing the state government of suppressing facts on Covid 19.
