Modi Government Is In Minority!
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 May 2018 5:16 AM GMTIt is a shocking news to BJP. The lotus party has suffered a setback recently in Karnataka and now they are encountering another challenge. BJP has achieved a full majority(282 seats) on their own in Lok Sabha but their figures are showing that they are running the government by depending on the NDA alliance partners.
With the recent resignations of Karnataka BJP MPs Yeddyurappa, B. Sriramulu, BJP strength in Lok Sabha decreased to 271. BJP lost 6 MP seats in the bypolls till now and 3 BJP leaders died so their seats are vacant. All these things made BJP strength 271 seats which is one seat short of the required majority 272.
On the other hand, BJP has recently suspended Bihar MP Kirti Azad, another BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha is a acting like a rebel and raising voice against PM Narendra Modi. MP Savitribai from UP is also opposing Central government's approach towards Dalits. These MPs will be a threat to BJP majority. But BJP will not have any immediate threat because they have the support of NDA alliance partners.
But it is facing heat from the NDA as well. TDP has already come out of the NDA. BJP doesn't have normal relations with Shiv Sena now. Shiv Sena has already announced that they are going to the polls alone next time. BJP's alliance partner PDP lost it's only seat to National Conference. So, all the eyes are on the by-polls of 4 Lok Sabha constituencies on May 28.
Experts are saying that BJP needs 269 MPs in Lok Sabhas out of 538(536 elected representatives, two Anglo-Indian nominated members) to prove its strength as of now and BJP has this strength. But if it loses the seats in the May 28 bypolls, it will land BJP in a tough situation.
