Is This An Indication For One-nation ,One - Election?
By: Tupaki Desk | 31 Jan 2021 11:15 AM GMTThe Telangana government is desperately hoping that the Election Commission will undertake a fresh delimitation of the assembly and lok sabha constituencies in the state. This will help the party in accommodating various ticket aspirants and those who joined the party from other parties.
As per the AP reorganization Act, another 50 seats should be added to AP and another 34 to Telangana. However, the Centre has not been allowing it citing some reason or the other. Though the TRS tried to convince the Centre many a time, the BJP at the Centre thwarted all its plans. Initially, the Modi Government had said that the delimitation can only take place only after the 2021 census. However, now it is reliably learnt that the Centre has agreed to consider the 2011 census as the basis for taking up a new delimitation.
The TRS feels that the Centre's nod for taking up the delimitation exercise is an indication that it is planning to implement its policy of one nation one election this time. This is also an indication that the BJP might call for the elections to the assemblies and the Lok Sabha at the same time.
