He was till recently very popular in his constituency and was all over the place. He nurtured the constituency and the karyakartas very well. But two consecutive defeats in the electoral battles seem to have had their effect on this former minister. He has not been very active in his constituency these days. He is also doing nothing these days when his followers are leaving for the TRS in drones .
The leader in question is former minister Sudarshan Reddy and the constituency is Bodhan. He has a strong cadre and a loyal following. He has his finger on the pulse of the locals. He is the tallest Congress leader in the region. Yet, he had lost in 2014 and 2019 assembly elections. Ever since the 2019 defeat, he is said to be spending time with his family in Hyderabad and is rarely visiting Bodhan. He has also not held a meeting of the party workers in many months. There are strong rumours that he is planning to retire from active politics.
Taking advantage of the political vacuum in the Congress, leaders like Medapati Rakesh Reddy, Karunakar Reddy and Salman Babu Khan are trying to strengthen themselves.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA Mohammed Shakeel is luring several key Congress leaders into the TRS. Many have already fallen for the bait and have joined the TRS. Significantly, Sudarshan Reddy is doing nothing to dissuade them. His silence and inaction have become a cause for concern for the Congress Party.
