Remember 2014 elections? Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's mother and YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma contested from Vizag Lok Sabha candidate. The TDP worked overtime to project her as a non-local candidate. It also worked hard to portray that if she wins, Kadapa factionist politics would inundate Vizag. As a result, Vijayamma lost the elections and this was a huge loss of face for both Jagan and the YSRCP. Later when he visited Vizag to organise Special Status Deeksha, he was arrested from the airport tarmac and was sent back.
Not one to forget insults easily, YS Jagan, it appears, is determined to take revenge on the TDP for these slights. By declaring Visakhapatnam as the executive capital of the state, he has decided to completely decimate the TDP in north Andhra. The party can neither support nor oppose to decision to make Vizag the executive capital. Already, there is dissonance in the TDP voices on the issue. Those rooted to the ground and involved in local politics are afraid of opposing the capital city in Vizag. This will only split the party further and strengthen the YSRCP in a big way.
This is Jagan's way of wreaking vengeance. He is now completely finishing off the TDP by this one move. Chandrababu must be rueing the arrest and attack on Jagan in Vizag airport. Today, Chandrababu is so afraid that he does not even want to go to North Andhra on a tour.
