Is this the desi alternate version of WhatsApp?

Amid growing concerns about WhatsApp privacy issues, media reports are abuzz that the government is readying a desi alternative to WhatsApp. It is said that some of the government officials are using the Sandes app, touted to be an alternative to WhatsApp.
The desi alternative version of WhatsApp, Sandes will run on iOS and Android platforms reportedly. The app comes with all the services offered by the other services like voice and data.
Media reports claim that Sandes offers the log-in facility for the users with options like OTP and sign-in LDAP. Like other modern messaging services, Sandes works on Mobile and system as well.
However, it is still unknown, whether the application is developed only for the officials in the Ministeries or the messaging app will be made available for the public as well. The official announcement from the government would provide more details.
It has to be noted that, back in 2020, the Modi led union government said that the efforts are underway to come up with a desi alternate version of WhatsApp.
