The off-spinner had signed off the game as the second-highest wicket-taker for India after Anil Kumble. Wishes have been pouring in for Singh for entering the fans for two long decades.
However, media reports say that there is a reason behind Harbhajan Singh announcing retirement from the game as he wants to foray into politics and serve the public of Punjab. Hinting at political entry, Harbhajan Singh said, he wants to serve the state.

Though he rubbished the claims of joining politics, Harbhajan Singh's name is associated with the political entry. He is reportedly in talks with Congress and BJP and might take a call on picking a party between the two parties.
It is also said that Harbhajan Singh might take the route of Gautam Gambhir and join the saffron party to become an MP. To increase its footprint in Punjab, BJP is in search of credible candidates and Harbhajan Singh might be one such candidate.
