Is this union minister mediating between TDP, BJP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 July 2022 3:34 AM GMTIt is now emerging that a union minister who was benefited by the TDP is behind the efforts aimed at bringing the TDP closer to the BJP. This union minister was helped by the TDP, which had helped him become an MLA by putting up a weak candidate. Now, he reportedly wants to pay back and help bring the two estranged parties close together.
This union minister is said to have played a key role in cancelling Draupadi Murmu's election campaign meeting in Telangana and arranged an unscheduled meeting with the TDP MLAs and MPs in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. He even said to have got a go-ahead from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the meeting.
The TDP, which lost the 2019 elections badly and is down in the dumps, is looking to revive itself. For that, it needs the support of the BJP, which is in power at the Centre. The TDP wants the BJP to remain neutral in the TDP's fight with the ruling YSRCP. In the aftermath of the 2019 elections, the BJP has veered towards the YSRCP. The BJP-YSRCP bonding was all too visible.
The YSRCP helped bail out the BJP several times in the Rajya Sabha, where the latter does not have a complete majority. Hence, the BJP is reciprocating. At the same time, the BJP has not forgotten the acts of Chandrababu Naidu in the run-up to the 2019 elections. It has not forgotten how he allied with the Congress and worked against the BJP in Gujarat and Karnataka.
But, the TDP wants the BJP to forget all that and begin a new chapter of friendship. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the union minister, whose political guru was known for his pro-TDP leanings, is helping the TDP in bringing both the estranged parties together.
