Is this why the TDP is trying to woo Jana Sena

Why is the TDP actively trying to court the Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh? Why are former ministers like Pithani Satyanarayana and Gollapalli Surya Rao strongly rooting for an alliance with the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena? Sources say that they are only representing the TDP's plan to bring Jana Sena into its fold.

Sources say that the TDP and the Jana Sena have had an unofficial alliance in both the Godavari districts. While Surya Rao welded an alliance in East Godavari, Pithani did it in West Godavari. As a result of this, there was a transfer of votes between the two parties wherever necessary. Where the TDP was not in a position to win, it transferred its votes to the Jana Sena and vice versa. As a result, the Jana Sena had put up a better performance.

In the panchayat elections, the Jana Sena had won 1209 sarpanch seats, 1576 deputy sarpanch seats and 4456 ward member posts. In the MPTC elections too, the party had won 177 MPTCs and two ZPTCs. Most importantly, the party has got 25.2 per cent votes in the local body elections. This showed that the party is a potent force in the state. Also, in association with the TDP, the Jana Sena has bagged Atchanta, P Gannavaram, Malkipuram, Kadiyam and Razole MPPs.

The TDP feels that an association with the Jana Sena will help it perform better in 2024. Hence the TDP is wooing the Jana Sena. The TDP also feels that one of the major reasons for the TDP's defeat in 2019 was breaking of the alliance with the Jana Sena. Hence, the TDP is trying to lure Jana Sena into its fold.
