It's one year Since The Amaravati Agitation Started
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Dec 2020 3:14 PM GMTThe Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy batted for the idea of decentralisation of power and development and proposed the idea to have three capitals for the state instead of focusing only on Amaravati.
The announcement turned out to be a rude shock for the people and farmers in Amaravati who started agitation against the state government's proposal of three capitals.
The agitation, dubbed as Amaravati farmers agitation completes one year today. The agitation was started on the 17th of December, last year after the CM made the announcement on the capitals in the Assembly.
The parties in the state Telugu Desam Party(TDP), Janasena, and the saffron party have extended their support to the farmers' agitation.
Talking about BJP support, the Andhra Pradesh wing of BJP extended their support to the agitation, while the union government led by the BJP in its affidavit said the capital issue comes under the state matters and it cannot intervene.
As the protests completed one year, the Amaravati Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a public meeting to which former CM Chandrababu Naidu, senior TDP leader Atchannaidu have attended.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh is very firm in its decision and looks like the government is not taking a back step in the capital issue.
