The KarimnagarMunicipal Corporation is witnessing a strange spectacle. The Mayor of the corporation is under attack â not from the Opposition, but from his own partymen. Recently, the KMC has witnessed a wordy duel between the current Mayor Sunil Rao and former mayor Ravinder Singh. The opposition watched this with lot of amusement.
Ravinder Singh is a loyal TRS worker and had stood by the TRS boss in the initial days when there was no one around. He was the mayor for five years from 2015 till early 2020. Singh hoped that KCR would give him another term. But, local minister Gangula Kamalakar and former MP Vinod Rao have brought forward Sunil Rao.
Unable to bear the slight, Ravinder Singh has been sulking ever since. In the very first meeting of the corporation, he took on Rao and criticised him for his failures. Not one to take it lying down, Rao retaliated by listing the charges of corruption against Ravinder Singh. This led to a verbal fight between the present and the past Mayor. The TRS corporators looked very stunned, while the Opposition corporators looked at the whole drama in amusement.
A section of the TRS leader are unhappy with the bulldozing ways of Gangula Kamalakar. They have been complaining about it. However, given Kamalakar's clout with KCR, they are unable to make any progress.
