It's Make-or-break For Congress In Telangana
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 Feb 2021 5:46 AM GMTThe Congress Party in Telangana is facing a make-or-break situation. It rnneeds to somehow perform well in the coming elections in the state. If rnit fails, the party's existence itself would be under threat. The party rnmay end up losing all key leaders and will become further weak. But to rnstay afloat, its leaders should forget differences and work together. Asrn of now, that’s nothing short of asking for the moon.
The rnupcoming Nagarjunasagar bypolls, two graduate constituency MLC electionsrn and the Khammam and Warangal municipal corporation elections are rnextremely crucial for the Congress. Except in Nagarjunasagar, the party rnhas nothing to cheer about. If the party loses these elections, there rnwould an exodus from the party. Already the BJP is poaching the Congressrn big time. Now added to this is the threat from YS Sharmila's to-be-bornrn party. Since there is still lot of soft corner for YSR among several rnCongressmen from telangana, there are fears that at least some key rnleaders might switch sides. As for the BJP, it has already netted key rnleaders like Harish Palwai and Kuna Srisailam Goud and is looking to rnlure more people.
All this would stop only when the Congress rnperforms well in the upcoming elections. However, the party seems to be rnboth direction less and clueless as to how to strategise for the rnupcoming elections. Even insiders admit that except in Nagarjunasagar, rnwhere Jana Reddy's personal charisma works, the party does not stand anyrn chance in the other elections.
