Its village volunteers vs MLAs everywhere in AP

Is the love between the YSRCP MLAs and the village volunteers waning? Are they now coming round to oppose one another? While the MLAs and other elected people's representatives feel that their powers and influence have been eclipsed by the village volunteers, the latter feel that the MLAs are trying to dominate them. And the battle of one-upmanship continues.

The recent incident in Musunuru of Eluru district that comes under the Nuzvid assembly constituency is a case in point. Local YSRCP MLA Meka Venkata Pratap Appa Rao has recently organised a programme to disburse welfare scheme benefits to chosen beneficiaries. This was organised as part of the party's outreach programme.

However, as many as 62 village volunteers have chosen to skip the meeting. There are as many as 300 such village volunteers in Musunuru mandal of the district. Of them only 238 have attended the meeting. The remaining volunteers did not furnish any reason for their absence. Now, this has become the talk of the town. Sources say that all is not well between the MLA and the village volunteers in the constituency.

Political watchers say that elsewhere in the state too, the situation is pretty much the same. The MLA of Nuzvid has got show cause notices issued to the village volunteers of Musunur who absented themselves. They say that though YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is trying to bring these two groups together so that they work in tandem, the results are not so encouraging.
