YSR Congress Giddaluru in-charge IV Reddy expressed concern over the plight of farmers and the rising number of suicides. He cited crop failure, Govt's disinterest in MSP and increasing debts as the major reasons for the dire state of the farm sector.
IV Reddy tried his best to instill confidence among the farmers by saying farmer friendly government is going to be formed next year. 'Hold your nerves...don't resort to extreme measures. We are gonna have a good future. Let's fight collectively,' he said apart from assuring YCP would dig borewells for every farmer at free of cost after forming the Government.
Mr. Reddy alleged CM Chandrababu Naidu has been splurging crores on foreign tours and event management. He states YS Jaganmohan Reddy is the only leader capable of making farming a profitable venture.
In Giddalur Constituency, Two Farmers committed suicide in a span of one month. In Achampet of Racharla Mandal, Farmer Kasi Reddy killed self before offering poison to his wife. In Pitikayagulla of Bestavaripet Mandal, Farmer Chegireddy Venkat Reddy ended life. IV Reddy expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of farmers who committed suicide in Giddalur Constituency. He demanded Government to announce ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for each of those families.
