Rock star Ravindra Jadeja is the quickest on the field and is regarded as the best fielder in the world. Despite starting as a bowler, Jadeja is coming in handy to the Indian team with his bat as well. In recent times, he has produced a few sensational knocks and the fighting knock against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semis remains iconic.

Making people remember all the previous knocks, Ravindra Jadeja, aka Sir Jadeja had brought the best out of him in the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka. He scored an unbeaten 175 and the score is the highest for him. His sensational knock also helped him to beat a decades-old long record.

Ravindra Jadeja who scored 175 not out had gone past India’s great Kapil Dev who held the record of having the highest score by an Indian playing at the 7th position. Kapil Dev had scored 163 against Sri Lanka and against the same nation, Jadeja had surpassed him.

Having broken the record held by great Kapil Dev, Jadeja also added a unique record of emerging as the 3rd Indian batsman to score more than 150 runs in the Test format at the 7th position. Earlier, Kapil Dev and Rishabh Pant achieved the record.

Despite losing the early wickets with no big knocks coming from the players except for Pant, Jadeja helped India to put up a massive score of 574 in the first innings. Jadeja had a 100 partnership with three players in his sensational knock.

After Jadeja scored 175 and he looked in good touch, everyone thought that the left-handed batsman will reach the double ton as he deserves it given the hard work he had done. However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had declared the innings leaving the fans in dismay. He was short of just 25 runs when the innings declared.

Sri Lanka did not get a required positive start while chasing a massive score. Sri Lanka lost an early wicket in the form of Lahiru Thirimanne. The opening partnership was broken by ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He dismissed the Sri Lankan batsman with a beautiful delivery.
