YSR Congress Party has given a bandh call on August 2nd to protest the injustice NDA Government has done to people of AP by denying Special Category Status. 'I request each one of you to join me in our demand for AP Special Status and show your support on Aug 2nd APBandh,' wrote Jagan.

YS Jagan: 'At the time of Bifurcation, Then Ruling Party and Opposition Parties given an assurance to Andhra Pradesh that Special Category Status will be granted. More 40% revenue come from Hyderabad alone. 70% Industries & 90% of IT Companies are based in Hyd. To compensate the loss, All the parties promised Special Status to AP in Parliament. TDP-BJP went ahead and declared 10 years Special Status will be granted. Narendra Modi promised Special Status for AP in Tirupati election campaign. This was even mentioned in their manifesto. After coming to power, They cheated the people of AP. How would the state survive without a Special Category Status? States with Special Status gets benefitted with financially & industrial development takes place. Other benefits include 100% IT and Excise Duty exemptions. Power will be available for just 50% of the cost. Even the cost of transportation will be reimbursed. Without them, How can the state prosper? Political System need to change. If Politicians go back on their promises after coming to power, Why should people trust them anymore? There should accountability!'.

The Opposition Leader alleged Chandrababu Naidu comprised on Special Status after he was caught red handed offered Rs 20 crore for each member during MLC Elections. He complained that Naidu didn't even ask Modi about Special Status when PM came for AP Capital Foundation Stone Ceremony. 'After Chandrababu kept saying Special Status isn't a solution for all the problems, BJP dared to say they can't do anything about it. Everything happened as per the plan,' he says.

Jagan states 14th Finance Commission has nothing to do with Special Status and it could only have a say on how the Central funds can be distributed among the States. He declares that only NDC headed by PM could take a call on Special Status'.
