Jagan gets media plan ready for 2024 elections?

With elections just a year-and-a-half away, YSRCP top boss and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be putting in place his media strategy. He is planning to put his media assets to build a favourable public opinion about his government and the party. Sources say that he is planning to put some media giants to do the PR work.

For instance, highly placed sources say that senior journalist Kommineni Srinivas Rao would be made the chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy. An inveterate Chandrababu Naidu hater and a strong backer of YS Jagan and his policies, Kommineni will complete his stint and be ready for the 2024 elections. In the 2024 elections, he would play an active role by organizing talk shows and town halls for the party.

Ditto with Devulapalli Amar. He is currently incharge of the media coverage for the YSRCP government at the national level. He has been given another extension to ensure that the YSRCP government in general and YS Jagan in particular get favourable coverage in the national media. Amar, who is quite active in the national level journalist unionism, will leverage his connections to get adequate coverage for Jagan.

Current Press Academy chief Devineni Srinath Reddy will complete his term soon and will join Jagan Mohan Reddy’s backroom strategy team. He had played a key role in preparing the strategy of the party in both the 2014 and 2019 elections. He knows the situation in Rayalaseema like the palm of his hand and would help Jagan in finetuning the media strategy for Rayalaseema.
