Jagan Opens Up On Special Status & Alliance
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Aug 2018 8:27 AM GMTYS Jaganmohan Reddy shared his thoughts about Special Category Status during a recent interview to the National Media.
To the query what would have AP gained with Special Category Status, YCP Chief replied: 'Plenty of Industries, Hospitals, Hotels could have been set up in the state already had if the promise was fulfilled in 2014 itself. It's the lifeline for Andhra Pradesh'.
When quizzed what will be YCP's stand if both NDA and UPA doesn't attain magic figure, Jagan explained: 'Whom among Modi or Rahul becomes PM isn't our priority. We are ready to support the party which offers Special Status. We can't trust anyone due to past experiences. Be it any party, YCP would extend support only if Special Status is accorded'.
Jagan clarified YCP supported BJP's President candidate Ramnath Kovind as his party is against elections for Constitutional Posts. He recalled YSRC supported Kodela as AP Speaker and how it opposed BJP when it comes to Land Acquisition Bill.
On the comments that he lacked experience, Jagan responded: 'I was elected as MP twice. I am currently the Opposition Leader. How can anybody underestimate my 10 years experience? During Padayatra, I have allotted more time to the people than my family'.
To the question if he is ready to accept BJP's support if YCP falls short of magic figure in next elections, Opposition Leader told: 'Never been before Andhrites had given such a verdict. They would offer full majority to one single party. So, There is no question of YCP falling short of magic figure in 2019 Polls'.
