Jagan to visit Kuppam, Chandrababu to stay away

September 22 is going to be a D Day for Kuppam assembly constituency. For the first ever time, Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to tour Kuppam constituency, the borough of leader of opposition Chandrababu Naidu. While the YSRCP is going all out to make this maiden tour a huge success, the TDP is said to be planning to thwart Jagan every inch of the way.
Jagan's tour assumes significance as the YSRCP is tightening its grip on Kuppam, which has elected Chandrababu Naidu since 1985. For the first ever time in 2019, the YSRCP managed to give a scare to Chandrababu Naidu when its candidate led in two rounds of the counting. Later, the YSRCP swept the gram panchayat and mandal level elections. It then wrested the municipality from the TDP.
YS Jagan's visit is being seen as an attempt to further tighten the grip of the party on Kuppam. Hence, Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and MP Mithun Reddy are leaving no stone unturned to make it a success. Banners, welcome gates are being erected in a big way. They want to ensure a huge turnout at the public meeting that Jagan is planning to address.
Fearing that the TDP could disrupt the meeting or stage protests, the police are planning to arrest the TDP leaders as a precautionary measure. They want to ensure a hassle free meeting of the YSRCP in Kuppam. As per protocol, local MLA Chandrababu Naidu is expected to be present when the chief minister visits the constituency. But, Chandrababu is set to be in neighbouring Anantapur instead.
