12 Congress MLAs Threaten To Join BJP

The Janata Dal (Secular) - Congress patch work in Karnataka is facing another challenge. This time around, Congress Party's Zarkiholi brothers are threatening the high command and Chief Minister Kumara Swamy. At least 12 MLAs, owing allegiance to Zarkiholi brothers, have said they would rock Kumaraswamy Government and join the BJP. With this, the Government is now staring at a massive threat to its very existence.

Why are these Congress MLAs miffed? What made them angry? If sources are to be believed, they are strongly opposed to the appointment of another Congress MLA Lakshmi Hebbalkar as the chairperson of the Primary Land Development Bank. This bank is a money spinner and everyone wants to grab the plum post of chairperson. But, despite having 12 MLAs, the post did not go to the Zarkhiholi brothers. So, angry Zarkiholi brothers are now raising a banner of revolt saying that the would join the BJP. The BJP is watching these developments with lot of interest.

The Kumaraswamy Government has been facing great instability and is facing a crisis a day because of the fractuous alliance. Kumaraswamy has fewer seats and is dependent on the support of the Congress, which has more MLAs. At every step, the Congress is troubling Kumaraswamy. Recently, former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramayya has even said that he cannot guarantee the continuance of the Kumaraswami Government and that he may become the chief minister again.
