JP Analyses 10 Percent EBC Reservation
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Jan 2019 1:52 PM GMT Jayaprakash Narayan looks concerned if the 10 percent reservation for Economically Backward Castes in General Category leads to social and political crisis in the country. He believes proper implementation has to be done to ensure only the deserving people gets the benefit.
Lok Satta Founder feels Education should be a parameter to decide who is rich and who is poor, not the community. Should the Children of an IAS receive reservation? If a Labourer's Child get 80 marks & IAS Officer's Child gets 90 marks, who should be offered reservation? Certainly, The Labourer's Child!
JP opined Poor People who can't afford education are losing out on opportunities due to lack of reservation. He questions, 'Does a Crorepati who belongs to Weaker Sections or any other caste need reservation? So, Government need to implement this quota properly. Education should be the main criteria. First of all, Education of Parents should be taken into consideration. Secondly, Take into account the kind of schools in which their kids have been studying. That's the best way to differentiate'.
