Popular actress and political leader, AMMA Jayalalitha, even after her death is facing the age old assets case and it's effects.

She had to go to jail for this very case and now, her friend Sashikala, her ex-adopted son Sudhakaran are also in Bangalore Jail because of the case.

During 1991-96, DMK Government opened the investigation on Jayalalitha, Sasikala and Sudhakaran for illegal assets case and ACB, filed that they have Rs. 66 crores valued illegal assets during the time.

After, Jayalalitha came to power, Karnataka Government is asked to run Special Court for the case. It took 20 long years to finally give a judgement in the case.

Supreme Court fined Jayalalitha for Rs. 100 crores and each of the others to pay Rs. 10 crores each. Also, TN Government has to pay Rs. 5 crores for running a special Court.

To recover all the amount, TN Government decided to ask the Revenue department and District Collectors to start identifying the illegal properties in the districts of Neelagiri, Thangavur, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Thirunelveli, Kancheepuram and confiscating them..

But the Collectors asked for a direction from Government on how to proceed as they are dealing with properties under revenue laws.

Higher Police officials said that Government can go forward according to revenue laws.

A total of 128 assets have been already identified and 68 more are being investigated. Soon, they will also be attached to the illegal assets case.

Now, Tamil Nadu Government is looking to release a Government Order stating all the assets have been legally confiscated by Government. It still has doubts if all the assets will amount to the required Rs. 100 crores amount. The jewellery and other ornaments that have been seized from her are also to be sold off.

Poes Gardens house of Jayalalitha is being turned into her memorial by Government. As they are unsure about what to do with the assets, they will ask Supreme Court to direct them in that issue it seems.
