Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa convicted by Special Court in the 18-year old Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case against her. Which will have huge ramifications on the state polity and her government.

In October 2011 Jayalalitha was on her way to defend herself at a special court where she was on trial. The case against her was regarding disproportionate assets which were found during a raid by IT. Later case was filed by the DMK in 1996 against Jaya, her aide Sasikala, foster-son VN Sudhakaran and Sasikala's sister in-law Ilavarasi.

With the confirmation of Bangalore court its confirmed that Jaya will punished by Jail term at-least one year. The news is creating political tensions in Chennai. As per sources considering this situation Jaya is checking alternatives for her CM position
