AIADMK led by Jayalalithaa retained power in Tamil Nadu by proving the Exit Polls in favor of DMK as simple rubbish by winning 132 seats out of 234 Assembly Constituencies in the state. Even Amma won from RK Nagar Assembly Segment by a good margin.
After late MGR, Jayalalithaa is the only person to be elected as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for two consecutive terms.
Speaking from her Poes Garden residence, Jayalalithaa told: 'Its a historic victory..I'm overwhelmed. No words to describe my feelings at the moment. All the promises in the AIADMK Manifesto will be fulfilled. I will be indebted to people of Tamil Nadu forever for reposing faith on AIADMK yet again'.
Inspite of failing to use the anti-incumbency against AIADMK to the fullest, DMK chief Karunanidhi created history by winning all the 13 Assembly elections he contested so far. He defeated his nearest Opponent by a margin of around 65,000 votes in Tiruvarur Assembly Segment.
