The Supreme Court Today struck down the petition moved by Karnataka Government seeking declaration of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa as convict in the disproportionate assets case.

Karnataka Government moved the Apex Court to alter the judgement dated on February 14th, 2017 in connection with Jayalalithaa assets case. Supreme Court was informed that recovering Rs 100 crore fine imposed on Jayalalithaa by the lower court becomes impossible if it doesn't declare the ex-CM as convict.

Justices PC Ghose and Amitava ROy dismissed the review petition of Karnataka Government on Wednesday saying Jayalalithaa can't be declared as a Convict.

On February 14th, Supreme Court convicted A2 VK Sasikala Natarajan, A3 Ilavarasi and A4 Sudhakaran in the Rs 66.65 crore illegal assets case. However, A1 Jayalalithaa was exempted as she was no more alive.
