Superstar Rajinikanth made sensational comments at the condolence meet organized by Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artists Association) for former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa.
Rajinikanth said: 'Prior to 1996 Assembly Polls, I commented that even God can't save Tamil Nadu if Jayalalithaa wins. I was one of the major reasons behind her defeat. Jayalalithaa was distressed by my words. I sought an appointment to personally invite her for my Daughter's Wedding. I thought she won't attend the wedding at any cost. But, She offered the appointment quickly and told me she would surely attend the wedding even though she was supposed to attend the marriage of a party functionary on the same day. Jayalalithaa is like a Kohinoor Diamond. The Lady with a golden heart is no more among us'.
AIADMK-led by Jayalalithaa faced a defeat in 1996 Elections. Whereas, DMK-TMC (Tamil Manila Congress) alliance emerged victories.
