Joe Root claims first position in ICC Rankings after 2015!

England skipper Joe Root had reached the top spot in the latest ranking with 916 rating points. His fabulous innings against India in the ongoing Test series helped him reach the first spot nearly after five years.
After the Test series had started, Joe Root had improved his rankings by five positions. His century in the Leeds Test helped him to reach the supreme spot in the ICC Rankings from the fifth position. He had scored three centuries in the three centuries. Joe Root stood at the first position in the ICC Rankings in Test format back in 2015. He took over five years to reclaim the top position.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma, who is having a good run score in England has improved his Test rankings and entered the top-5 for the first time. Hitman Rohit Sharma overtook Virat Kohli to reach the top-5.
Virat Kohli who had failed to shine with his bat fell to the sixth position in the ICC Test Batsmen rankings with 763 rating points. For the first time, Virat Kohli failed to find a spot in the top-5 since 2017.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson had slipped to the second position in the rankings with 901 rating points. Australiaâs Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are at the third and fourth positions with 891 and 878 points respectively.
