Joke Of The Year: This politician Owns A University, But Does Not Own A Car

A look at the affidavits filed by the politicians contesting the Graduate Constituency elections makes an interest reading. The claims made by the candidates have become subjects of trolling and meme-making. Of the many candidates, only BJP's Ramachandra Rao appears to be closer to the truth while furnishing affidavits.
Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, who is contesting as a TRS candidate from Nalgonda-Karimnagar-Khammam graduates constituency, owns a private university, but does not own a car. This has given rise to lot of memes, cartoons and trolling on the social media. While it is public knowledge that Reddy's educational institutions have been given deemed university status, his claim that he does not own a car is laughable. In contrast, N Ramachandra Rao, the BJP candidate from the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituency, owns two cars – a Kia Carnival worth Rs 41 lakh and a Toyota fortuner worth 38 lakhs. He owns two houses bought before 2013, both worth around 90 lakh. Interestingly, Prof Nageshwar owns two plots worth just 5.73 lakh, which is unbelievable. He cleverly says that they were worth Rs 5.73 lakh when they were bought. He did not mention the house he owns in Saket Colony. He also claims to have bought two acres – one each in Janagam and Bibinagar, whose cost he has not mentioned.
Former Minister Chinna Reddy, who is the Congress candidate says he owns a Toyota car worth just Rs 3 lakh. Interestingly, while talking of the lands and other assets, the political leaders are mentioning the value at the time of purchase, but when it comes to cars, they are quoting the present value after depreciation.
