New guidelines introduced by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry has invited the wrath of Media Personalities across the Nation. It's been seen as an attempt to curb press freedom in the country ahead of 2019 Polls.

As per the new guidelines, The accreditation of a journalist will be suspended for six months if the publication or telecast of fake news is proven. If there is a second violation, The suspension will be for one year. In case of third violation, Accreditation will be cancelled permanently.

Complaints on Fake News will be referred to Press Council of India (PCI) if it pertains to Print Media to determine if the news item is real or fake within 15 days. Whereas, News Broadcasters Association (NBA) will handle such complaints if it's related to the Electronic Media. Once the complaint gets registered, The Accreditation of the Journalists will be kept on hold until the the end of the probe.

Centre is receiving backlash from Social Media over the new guidelines. Most of them expressed the view that none of Journalists would survive if this rules were implemented as they report every fake promise made by the Rulers. Is this an attempt to suppress the negative campaign against BJP across the Nation? How could anybody judge a news is fake or not within 15 days? Sometimes it takes years to prove the scams committed by the Rulers.
