The buzz about the possibility of industrialist-philanthropist Jupalli Rameswara Rao’s elevation to the Rajya Sabha is refusing to die. Though there is no confirmation either from the Telangana BJP or from the sources close to Rameswara Rao, the talk of his getting a Rajya Sabha seat is only getting louder.

Sources say that Rameswara Rao could be nominated to Rajya Sabha from Assam. Initially, the buzz was that he would be sent to the Rajya Saba either in Karnataka quota or UP quota. But, the latest buzz is that he would be sent through the Assam quota. But, Assam already has a long waiting list of Rajya Sabha aspirants. Then, how will Jupalli be accommodated?

When contacted, the BJP leaders in Telangana have said that they have no information about Jupalli Rameswara Rao either joining the BJP or being nominated to Rajya Sabha. The Telangana leaders also said that neither did the BJP contact Rameswara Rao nor did Rameswara Rao contact the BJP.

However, sources say that Rao has developed links with the BJP at the national level and has been meeting the national leaders of the party at various levels. He had also helped the BJP during the West Bengal elections. In fact, there was a buzz that TV9 Bangla was used by the BJP during the elections. As of now, the picture is hazy and the haze will soon be cleared and Rao would get the Rajya Sabha nomination, sources said.
