Sensation: SC Judge Letter to Chief Justice!
X
Senior Supreme Court Judge J Chelameswar cautioned the friendliness between Judiciary and the Government would result in death knell for the democracy. He wrote a 6-page letter to Chief Justice of India stressing the necessity for convening a full court to deal with the alleged executive interference in judiciary.

Chelameswar threw a light on the probe initiated by Karnataka High Court chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari against District and Sessions Judge Krishna Bhat as per the instructions from Union Law Ministry. He expressed concern over Government directly ordering High Court Chief Justice to conduct a probe. He pointed out this development happened despite the Top Court collegium recommended Krishna Bhat's name twice for elevation twice.

In 2016, Chief Justice of India TS Thakur asked High Court chief justice SK Mukherjee to conduct an inquiry into allegations against Judge Krishna Bhat. The probe team has given a clean chit to the Judge.

Mr. Chelameswar alleged Government made attempts to treat Chief Justices as Departmental Heads in the Secretariat. He opined the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court is acting as per the orders from Government and this isn't good for the judiciary.

Chelameswar was one of the four Supreme Court Judges who held press conference on January 12th over inappropriate allocation of cases by Chief Justice.
