The Much-talked-about Vizag Steel Plant row continues to amaze us. The Union Minister who said the plant will not be privatised quickly changed his version and said that his comments are wrongly interpreted. The Centre also gave clarity on this and said that the plant will be privatised.
As another unexpected development, people who are fighting against privatisation are coming together. Former CBI DIG JD Lakshmi Narayana joined the fight and already placed his bid for the plant. He is supporting the employees' unions that are fighting in this regard.
An interesting thing happened as JD Lakshmi Narayana appeared along with famous Evangelist K. A. Paul. The two held a press meet on the steel plant privatization and said that saving the plant is the need of the hour to protect its legacy.
KA Paul said that the Centre is playing games with the privatisation and it wants to privatize the plant at any cost. He also asked what the YSRCP is doing despite having so many MPs from the state. Why can't the party fight against this, he asked.
Lakshmi Narayana said that he came here to gather support to fight against the Vizag steel plant privatisation. Talking about KA Paul, he said that Paul has good contacts and I came here to seek his support to stop this. I am ready to work with anyone who fights against this.
The press meet came when there are just two days left for the closure of the expression of interest (EOI). We have to wait and see what the two can do as far as the issue is concerned. They said they are ok to work together against the process.
As per the media reports, as many as 22 companies had submitted their expression of interest (EOI) for the plant. The firms include companies from other nations like Ukraine.
