The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) is a prestigious project in Telangana which was built on a big budget of thousands of crores. The multi-stage multi-purpose scheme inaugurated in 2019 costed around Rs 80,000 crores as per the official data. The TRS government has been taking pride in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) all these years.

But the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) project's bubble bursted after the recent Godavari floods. The floods caused by the heavy downpours led to a disaster in many villages. Forget about villages, the project also faced issues as the pumping stations were damaged.

Despite being dubbed as one of the largest lift irrigation schemes in the world, the Kaleshwaram project saw two pumping houses getting damaged and making them unable to function temporarily.

But the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) issue is getting intense as experts from various sections raised their voices against the row and placed a new demand that the issue should be probed by a sitting judge.

The Telangana Journalists Study Forum (TJSF) called for a general meeting on the alleged mistakes in the design of the project. The attendees of the meeting alleged that the project was not constructed in the right way and the mistakes in the design made way for the project's pumping house to get sunk.

People from various professions like BJP Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender, Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) chief Kodandaram, TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yaskhi Goud, and Retired Engineers Forum representative Shyamprasad Reddy attended the meeting.

Raising severe objections to the alleged fault design of the Kaleshwaram project and allegedly not listening to the advice of the engineers, the attendees of the meeting also felt that the design of the costly project might have not been executed in a right way.

The round table meeting was held by the Telangana Journalists Study Forum (TJSF) on the topic: "Is submergence of Kaleshwaram a human error or natural calamity". Not just KCR, the meeting also found fault with Megha Krishna Reddy, whose Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited constructed the project and demanded an investigation by a sitting judge.
