Shocking: History says Brahmin Priests ate Beef!
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Dec 2015 5:58 AM GMTDalit Rights Activist & Well-Known Scholar Kancha Illaiah said Hindus, including Brahim priests, have historically eaten beef in India. He opined people who treat cow as sacred shouldn't call it Hinduism but 'Cow Religion'.
On the beef politics debate at Times Lit Fest, Kancha Illaiah states cow worship and anti-beef campaign began in the 9th Century with Shankaracharya. He feels Cow was considered sacred just because it offers milk, whereas the fact it 70% of milk production is only because of buffaloes. He asks the Government to either remove cow from Article 48 of the Constitution or Add buffalo to it. He also says buffalo was ill-treated just because of its black color and animal inequality led to human inequality.
The noted scholar believes English language helped India's backward classes to progress. He advises Brahmins who are opposed to Western culture to stick to Sanskrit and allow Bahujans to study English.
