By: Tupaki Desk | 1 May 2021 3:12 PM GMTThe management of the Orange Army Sun Risers Hyderabad has taken a big decision on the change of captainship. Newzealand skipper Kane Williamson takes over the captainship from serving skipper David Warner.
In the press release, the SRH management said, the change in captainship will come into effect from the next match, and Kane Mama, how SRH fans call him, will lead the team for the rest of the tournament.
'SunRisers Hyderabad would like to announce that Kane Williamson will be taking over the captaincy for tomorrow's match and for the remainder of IPL 2021. The team management has also made the decision that they will be changing their overseas combination for tomorrow's match against Rajasthan Royals. This decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years. As we face the remainder of the season we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field.' the press release read.
Respecting the impact David Warner had on the SRH team over the years, the management hoped that David Warner will continue to help on-field and off-field as well.
SRH had a bad season so far in the tournament by winning just a single match out of the six matches it played. In the previous match, it played against CSK, SRH had failed to put a good score on the board. Warner admitted that he had played slowly in the middle overs.
