Pandemic Diaries: Karnataka Govt Bans Crackers Bursting For Diwali Celebration

Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has addressed the media and announced that the government opted to ban cracker bursting for the festival.
Talking about the decision, he said the government took the crucial cal taking the Covid-19 outbreak and other reasons into consideration and Government Order(G.O) will be issued in this regard very soon.
Fearing the pandemic outbreak earlier states like West Bengal, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Haryana have appealed to the public to not burst crackers during the festival to curb the pandemic.
However, there is no clarity on whether the sale of crackers will also be banned or only the cracker bursting is banned. We may get clarity once the GO is issued in this regard.
The decision to ban the crackers for the festive celebrations from the states after many health experts even the WHO has warned India about the virus spread as the air pollution caused by the crackers will make people more vulnerable to Covid-19.
