Karnataka Heading Towards President's Rule
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 July 2019 4:29 PM GMTKarnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar is yet to take a decision on whether to approve or reject the resignations of 15 rebel MLAs from Congress and JD (S). On the other hand, BJP isn't rushing to stake claim to form the Government. This situation could lead to President's Rule in Karnataka for a brief period.
BJP Spokesperson hinted Governor Vajubhai Bala might recommend for President's Rule in Karnataka if Speaker delays his decision on resignations of Rebel MLAs. He informed BJP will stake claim to form the Government only if the resignations are accepted.
Here is the math: 'If the resignations aren't accepted, The strength of the Assembly remains 225. Which means, A Party has to prove its majority of 113 MLAs for forming the government. In case if the resignations were accepted, Then the strength will fall down to 210. Which means, 106 MLAs will be required to form the Government. BJP (105) could pull it off with the support of 2 MLAs'.
Rebel Legislators might move the Supreme Court seeking its intervention for ensuring their resignations were accepted at the earliest.
