They Didn't Go To Delhi.. They Made Delhi Come To Them...
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 Aug 2018 4:58 AM GMTTamil stalwart Karunanidhi is no more. But, for years, the people of not just Tamil Nadu, but also the whole country will talk about him. He was such a towering personality.
Since 1969, he has been impacting national politics. Since 1990s, he has been part of the government at the Centre till 2014. But, the interesting thing about Karunanidhi is that he never went to Delhi except for the meeting of the CMs. For all other things - be it for striking up alliances or for hankering for ministries - he never went to Delhi. Delhi came to him. Ministers and even prime ministers came to him, met him and discussed politics with him. That explains why Karunanidhi was so powerful.
Another politician who never went to Delhi, but made Delhi come to him was Bal Thackeray of Maharashtra. He had never gone to meet anyone in Delhi. Leaders like Vajpayee and LK Advani came and met him at Mumbai. Though he was the mainstay for the BJP in 1998-2004 period, Balasaheb never went to Delhi.
Think of our dear Chandrababu Naidu and count how many times he rushes to Delhi. In power or out of power, he keeps making rounds of Delhi and calls himself a king-maker. Despite his repeated tours, he is finding fewer friends as the recent No Confidence Motion showed. No party other than the TDP talked about the issue of special status to AP during the No Confidence debate.
So, the lesson is - don't rush to Delhi... Make Delhi come to you!! Is the king maker listerning?
