Will it be father or son? Who will become the chief minister? Now that it is almost certain that the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress is all set to come together to form the government in Maharashtra, the focus is on who will become the chief minister. Will it be young Aditya Thackeray or his dad Uddhav Thackeray?
While Uddhav wants his son Aditya to be the chief minister, the Congress and the NCP strongly feel that many of their MLAs are deeply averse to working under a greenhorn like Aditya, who is not just young but a first-time MLA. Several of the MLAs in all these parties are veterans who have been in the field of politics for over four decades. So, the leaders of the Congress and the NCP are insisting that senior politico Uddhav lead the government. But, even Uddhav has never been an MLA so far. In fact, this is the first ever time that a Thackeray has contested the elections.
The arrangement for now is that Shiv Sena will get the CM post and both NCP and the Congress will have deputy chief ministers. Also, the CM post will be rotated between the three parties. The three parties are also planning to bring in Samajwadi Party, Peasants and Workers Party and other small groupings. The new front is likely to stake its claim on November 26.
